I am a former New Yorker now living on California's Central Coast. My life has been full of many unusual encounters and experiences. A former art critic, I was the managing editor of an art & fashion magazine in New York, and am widely published with well over 120 articles, essays and reviews and a few ghost written books. I love the arts, have had my own art gallery and I continue to paint and perform whenever I can. Like most in the creative industry, I have worn many hats, so I have also worked in the food and fashion businesses, taught art history at Cal State Northridge and elsewhere, and have traveled on business to Europe, China, and Canada. I speak fluent French and German.
My spirit name is White Heart, given to me by my clan mother Hua Anwa; I honor my Native American heritage and my Cherokee ancestors who date back seven generations on my mother's side of the family. Davy Crockett is my distant cousin on my father's side of the family. I have studied several of the world's great spiritual systems, with intensive work in Tibetan Buddhism, Qi Gong & Tai Chi, sacred clowning, Native American shamanism, and most recently, Reiki and energetic healing. I currently lead a women's circle and teach classes on writing and empowerment.
I am married to the most wonderful husband ever, the writer Mark Onspaugh and we have two quirky cats. I went to Nightingale Bamford in NYC for twelve years while my college years were spent studying Art History at Barnard, with graduate studies in Critical Theory at Art Center, Writing at CalArts and a doctorate in Visual Studies from UC Irvine, where I developed a philosophy about subjectivities in digital media. I have been honored with distinction, scholarships, grants and a fellowship.
I work closely with all different kinds of people, frequently helping them to express their needs and fulfill their goals with clarity and precision. Sometimes they need a business-oriented solution and sometimes they need personal counseling to help them overcome obstacles. Whatever your needs are, I would like to help. You can arrange a free appointment to speak with me and we'll see if I can assist.
